For over 20 years, Dr. Bernstein has maintained a private practice. He routinely assesses for and evaluates the needs of children and family through evaluations, collaboration with attorneys, and assessment for child protective agencies. He has testified approximately 300 times and completed approximately 9000 evaluations.
Dr. Bernstein enjoys active membership with the Pennsylvania Psychological Association and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
He is honored to have presented at the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, as well as for family/juvenile judges about child custody matters with specific attention given to domestic violence, professional ethics, testimony, parental alienation, and substance abuse.
As an evaluator, he shows sensitivity to the multifaceted nature of cases and approaches all cases in a clear, organized, and systematic manner. He considers factors such as suspected child abuse, neglect, domestic violence, parental alienation, substance use, relocation factors, and parenting.
In order to help shape the future of psychological practice, Dr. Bernstein offers a practicum experience and supervises psychology students from Carlow University, Duquesne University, University of Pittsburgh, and Robert Morris University.
Transitioning into the role of a co-parenting counselor is a rewarding opportunity and I look forward to helping those who need additional support and direction when there is high conflict.
He remains current with the ethical responsibilities as prescribed by the state and encouraged by organizations.
In addition, he is an associate adjunct professor the The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in the Master’s in Forensic Psychology program.
