With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Bernstein has built a private practice focused on assessing the needs of children and families. He regularly conducts evaluations, collaborates with attorneys, and works with child protective agencies. Dr. Bernstein has completed approximately 9,000 evaluations and testified about 300 times.

Active in the Pennsylvania Psychological Association and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Dr. Bernstein has presented to these organizations as well as family and juvenile judges on topics related to child custody, including domestic violence, ethics, testimony, parental alienation, and substance abuse.

Known for his systematic approach, Dr. Bernstein addresses the multifaceted nature of cases, considering factors like child abuse, neglect, domestic violence, parental alienation, substance use, and parenting. He also supervises psychology students from Carlow University, Duquesne University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Robert Morris University, shaping the future of psychological practice.

As a co-parenting counselor, Dr. Bernstein provides valuable support for high-conflict families. He stays up-to-date with ethical guidelines set by the state and professional organizations.

Additionally, Dr. Bernstein serves as an adjunct professor in the Master’s in Forensic Psychology program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
